PHS HCA Senior Project

On March 14&15, 2013 the JHF partnered up with 5 Palmdale High School Health Careers Academy Seniors as they did a Senior Project on the Dangers of Texting & Driving.

The students, Shaun Gutierrez, Nicole Alvarez, Analelly Madrigal, Daniela Barrera and Robert Orona facilitated a day referred to as 'The Last Text'.

March 14, 2013 was a morning of anticipation as selected students were pulled out of class by the Grim Reaper and their Last Text message was read to the class. The message was either what they sent or received as they were driving or as they were innocently killed by someone that was Texting & Driving. The school was honored with the presence and powerful messages from the EMS of the Los Angeles County Fire, Los Angeles County Sheriff and California Highway Patrol.

The 2nd Day was exciting for the students at Palmdale High School as they joined with the PHS car show and had the opportunity to put on Fire Dept. Turnouts and take a sledge hammer to a car enhancing the Message of "Take A Hit Against Texting". Many students and Staff members took the pledge on the car to be Text Free Drivers......The message was heard and many said that it changed their minds and they will never Text & Drive again.
